The Sabeen Mahmud Scholarship has been created in loving memory of Sabeen Mahmud. The Sabeen Mahmud Forum (SMF) intends to award scholarships to students enrolled in degree-awarding programmes in psychology that will equip individuals to provide counselling and psychotherapy to children and adolescents in Pakistan.

Today, Sabeen is celebrated as a human rights activist, a fearless campaigner for the rights of minorities and a vocal critic of systems of power. When this is the only lens that generations of Pakistanis will view her through, what is being left out? For anyone who wants to research and know more about Sabeen, her work, passions, interests, her own brand of masti—the joie de vivre that permeated everything she did—the Archive will help us remember her as more than “the activist”. 

In a culture that encourages a “let’s-not-talk-about-this” attitude, young people often don’t know who to go to when they are facing a problem. Most parents and teachers are not equipped to support students in middle school the way they need to be supported. The Empathy Project aimed to help teachers provide a ‘safe space’ for young people to share and explore their issues.

Dairah is our social media campaign that aims to educate and raise awareness on youth mental health. It will serve as a resource and a platform to partner with parents and educators to facilitate discussions on how we can together improve mental healthcare for the youth.
